Community Hours (hereinafter referred to as “the Company”)
Terms and Conditions
Use of the Community Hours Platform indicates that you (“User”) have read, understood, and agreed to be bound by the terms and conditions of this website. “User/s” shall mean organisations, schools or individuals (18 or older or younger than 18 with parental or guardian consent) who wish to volunteer, or use the platform to register events or volunteering opportunities.
Registering an account
Should you wish to register as a student, you automatically confirm that you are over 18 years, or you warrant that a parent or guardian has consented to the registration. By registering on our site, you automatically consent to receiving our Ready, Steady, Volunteer newsletter.
Should you register as an organization, or school, you warrant that you are duly authorized to act on behalf of the relevant entity and to register same. You automatically indemnify and hold the Company harmless against all the damages, loss, expenses, penalties and legal costs incurred from any cause whatsoever directly or indirectly associated with the use of our platform. Community Hours will always be entitled to call upon you to provide documentary proof to confirm your legal standing.
Use of Service
Any acceptance of volunteering opportunities is exclusively between the organization and the student. The Company will not be liable for any bodily injuries, illness, death, medical treatment, or property damage that may however so caused arising directly or indirectly from:
1.Interaction with other users (volunteers, organisations or schools):
2.Participation in any activities or communication arising from the use of the platform.
Parents must be aware that they take full responsibility for their children being dropped off at any volunteering opportunity. Should a parent or guardian not feel comfortable leaving their child at any event, they are free not to do so. The parent, guardian or school indemnifies and holds the Company harmless against any claims arising out of any bodily injuries, illness, death, medical treatment, or property damage that may however so caused to the child whilst at an organized volunteering opportunity.
If at any time the User or parent/guardian is not satisfied with the site, the remedy is to discontinue use of the site.
Copyright
All content within our site is owned by Community Hours and its licensors and is protected by South African Copyright Laws. Written permission must be obtained from the Company in order to copy, redistribute, sell, alter, reproduce or republish such content.
Protection of Intellectual Property and Limitation of Liability
All material on our site is the property of the Company, and is protected by Intellectual Property laws of South Africa.
Community Hours, its officers, directors, employees, agents and suppliers will be indemnified and held harmless by the user in respect of any losses, claims, liabilities and unconditional damages including loss of profit or legal fees as a result of breach of the terms and conditions or abuse of the platform or delays in computer or network communications, including malfunctions, bugs and viruses.
Referrals and links to Third Party Websites
We do not specifically endorse any website to which we indicate a link on our site. We record that we have no control over the content of other sites, but confirm that every effort is made to monitor such sites and to ensure that they comply with our standards.
No Warranties
The Company makes no warranties as to the following:
1.The accuracy of the information, or content of the site;
2.The transactions entered into regarding volunteering opportunities with any organisations,
3.The uninterrupted availability of the site, and that defects will be corrected immediately.
The platform is used at the sole risk of the user, and the loss of any data or computer service will not be the responsibility of the Company.
Protection of Personal Information
By registering on our site, you, as a User, expressly consent to us collecting, processing and storing your Personal Information for the purpose of adding the information to our site to harness the offered volunteering opportunities. These terms and conditions comply with the Protection of Personal Information Act 2013.
We require the following personal information:
Name and Surname, Age, School, School House or equivalent, E-mail Address, Telephone Number, for each volunteer, and, in compliance with the Protection of Personal Information Act 2013 we request you complete the name, phone number and email address of one parent for each minor who registers on the Community Hours platform. We may use the information collected to analyse trends and gather demographic information. Consent to the processing of your Personal Information by the Company relates to the provision of information and services pertaining to Community Hours. Processing includes collection, recording, organization, use, merging, linking, and tracking of volunteering engagements. You expressly consent to the Company retaining your Personal Information once your relationship has terminated for record and reporting purposes. We may use and collect your information to send communications regarding volunteering opportunities and marketing material in creating exciting events. Information assists us in assessing the performance of the site, and in providing feedback.
We may disclose your Personal Information to our employees in order to operate the site, in order to affect a successful link to volunteering opportunities. Our disclosure of your Personal Information as a user on our site may relate to legal compliance, to protect the Company’s intellectual property, or to protect any third party who is adversely affected by the user’s use of our site. Any Personal Information which is transmitted online to us is done so at own risk. Security of transmission via the internet cannot be guaranteed.

Donations of CASH are very important and offer a lifeline to so many organizations. Unfortunately, we are not able to verify Volunteering Hours for cash donations – HOWEVER, should you choose to make a donation of cash – we encourage you to log your donation as a GOODWILL donation, and in this way, your contribution will be tracked and acknowledged on your profile , and will reflect on your reports and you will be able to draw a certificate in support of your community impact. BUT no hours will be allocated to any cash donations.
Should you make a donation – please be so kind as to email a copy of your EFT to events@communityhours.co.za, showing the charity you have chosen to support, after you have logged your activity. In this way we can verify your donation and thank you for being such an active and mindful citizen.
